  • Great Show and Community

    By PWKWSFI4/18/2010 19:37:45

The games, the systems, the chemistry of the hosts, and the VGO forums are all perfect reasons to listen to this show.  For years the hosts have shared what they are playing, drinking, and anything else that allows the listener to feel a connection to the experiences of all gamers.  All gaming platforms are represented, if not equally, then fairly and objectively.

Hosts blkdog7, Big Slanky Jerk, and Coastal Michelle (John, Kyle, and Michelle) have stuck to their format for a long time and stay in touch with their listeners through the forums, voice mails, and e-mails.  They can also be found online playing games, of course.  Their approachability in conjunction with their gaming experiences and insights, not to mention the professional delivery of these things, draws the listener in as if participating with the discussion.  There have been a small number of live shows, but they have been very successful.  The forums have been outfitted with a chat room to make future live shows even better.

Other video game podcasts might have more production value, but on VGO content and personalty keep the show alive so much that additional editing would mar the show's purity.  The voices are also very clear unlike other shows, so VGO can be easily heard in your noisy car.  The episodes run from 100 to 150 minutes and are great for commuters.

Other perks include a semi-annual event at Funspot in New Hampshire, as well as a lively forum of listeners and interesting people who work to entertain, inform, and encourage others.  There is also the holiday special Cooking Outsiders.  Many people enjoy the music at the end of every show, performed by blkdog7.

  • Great show!

I've been listening since 07 and am hooked.  The chemistry between John, Kyle, and Michelle can't be beat.  Try not to show you teeth laughing at crank calls to Gamestop.

  • I hate Michelle

But John and Kyle save this cast. The Music at near the end from the Kill Screens is a bonus. They are Outsiders sorta if you don't count Iphone game apps. So while sometimes there facts are off *michelle* or they don't know anything *michelle* they'll do their best to be as informative at possible..
