Memorial Day is coming up here in the U.S. and in Canada. In celebration of that, I want to talk about Warrior Magick - who uses it, how it's used. The Warrior is found in female as well as male archetypes. Pagan traditions all over the world know both Goddesses and Gods who describe warrior energies.
In today's Pagan commnunity, there are people - mostly men - who see themselves as playing the role of the Warrior. We'll start this week's show with a look at what's gong on with that.
And, to look at how the early Celts understood Warrior Energy, we'll take a look at two well-known warrior deities; "Queen Maeve and Cuchalan". And we'll follow that up with some Heathen Magick, as we discuss the God Thor.
It's "The Abbey of the Spiral Dance" this week, where silence and meditation is the rule. Well, silence from ME, anyway, as I present a series of meditations which will pretty much take up all of the show.
Well, start with a Chakra Balancing recording from Stacy Dean.
Then, from Bente Hansen's New World of Self Healng, we'll listen to "Luminescent Reflection".
And we finish off with "The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram" from Christopher Penczak's The Witches Shield.
This week, we go back to the very beginning as we delve into the ancient Civilization of Sumer.
Sumer existed in what is now modern Iraq and predates Babylon. So, it's one of the worlds oldest civilizations, but one that is not discussed very much. We'll do something about that this week! We'll start with a quick look at what we know about Sumerian history - and how we know it. Then, we get into The Sumerian Creation Myth; we follow that with The Creation of Humans. We also have a poem called Enki and the Mother Goddess ("The Affairs of the Water God") . And finally, The Sumerian Flood Story.
I hope you enjoy the show! spiraldance1@excite.com
This week, we celebrate Beltane! Down the Ages, High Spring has long been known as a Festival of Fertility and Love as we welcome the flowering of Nature's Return. In our Mythology Beltane represents the Mating of the Goddess and the God; it's The Original White Wedding!
Then at 60-minutes into the show, we talk with Dawn Hunt of Cucina Aurora, our very own official Kitchen Witch to help us celebrate Beltane!
Nature is at the center of this week's theme.
It is said that whenever King Arthur's knights began their quest for the grail, they went out into the wilderness where the woods are thickest to find their inspiration. I want to share with you an article on "Wilderness Magick".
Magickal places are all over the world; maybe even in your own back yard! We'll discuss Magickal Places and look at the magickal properties inherent in mountain tops, riverbanks and caves.
There are many customs associated with bones. In many traditions, one is taught to be careful not to break any of the bones of the game that one kills, in the belief that if the skeleton was kept intact, the animal could come back to life - thus ensuring future game for the community. So, as we look at Nature, we'll delve into "Bone Magick".
