My Buddy Butch is a book by Author, Musician, and Producer Jeff Marginean. It's a funny heartwarming story of how a little Boston Terrier changed his outlook on unconditional love, caring, and taught him how to stop and smell the ...um...roses!! After Jeff's Mom passed in April 2003 the family decided to get his Dad a Boston. This was just what the doctor ordered and Jeff was not far behind when "Buttons" had her first litter of pups. "Butch," this little rambunctious Boston, gave Jeff a new perspective on single parenthood, eating furniture, and fully digested presents, turning this bachelor into a "New Dog Dad!" On the show we will be talking about new pet issues from owning a puppy to bringing home an adopted pet. We will be having special guests such as trainers, vets, and shelter supervisors. We will also be discussing and reviewing new pet products and foods!

I just received word today that our award winning book "My Buddy Butch - Confessions of a New Dog Dad" was delivered to the Whitehouse and to the Obama Family. In partnership with WOW Creations of Hollywood California, JEMAR Entertainment learned today that the the book was delivered to the first family in a gifting that was done in anticipation of the first family choosing a new dog for their home. During these difficult times that the President, each one of us, and our nation is facing, it is more important than ever not to lose our heads and 'panic.' Even diuring the most stressful times we all need to take time out and sit back to rest our minds, body, and spirit in order to attack the issues at hand and resolve the problems in a meaningful long term fashion. Regardless of our individual beliefs, politics, or attitude, it is important that we all come together as a nation and work together as we have so many times before in the past. Being that the President and I are roughly the same age, within a couple of years, I can imagine and empathize with the difficult task that he has to deal with on a daily basis. Balancing this with his family life will be tough. I hope that if President Obama has the time to read "My Buddy Butch - Confessions of a New Dog Dad" that he might gain a few moments of laughter and forget, if even for a few minutes, some of the stress he may have. All people deserve to live a peaceful life and knowing the responsibility and stress that the office of "President of the United States" carries with it, it is important to stand behind our President and support him and his family as American Citizens. I support Obama as I have supported Bush. Largely because they had the guts and determination to hoist this seemingly impossible job on their shoulders and try to make the country a better place. I don't think anyone going into the Presidency says to themselves, "Let's see how bad I can screw things up in four years!" Yet critics of each of these men have NEVER walked one day with the responsibility that they carry with regard to the free world. However, many of them have families also and know full well the responsibility to their families. I hope the first family enjoys "My Buddy Butch - Confessions of a New Dog Dad" and I hope that the information in the book will help the Obama's know a little more of what they are getting into with a new dog. I hope the new dog helps to relieve some of the stress of the day for the President and his family. I hope Sasha and Malia enjoy and love their new playmate, and I hope Michelle doesn't get too upset with the inevitable "presents" left on the carpet during the housebreaking! I wish them good luck with their new family member(s) and if the President needs any advice from one "New Dog Dad" to another, I hope that he does not hesitiate to call me and Butch! I don't know if it is because it's halloween, bad luck, or just plain old technical difficulties but as soon as the show started everything TANKED! The switchboard did not work, numbers were flashing on and off the board and I was at a loss! I finally had to cancel and restart which threw off the entire show. Tribute to 9/11 - I don't think anyone will forget this day as long as we live. It is right up there with Pearl Harbor so I couldn't let it pass without recognizing the meaning and the loss of so many Americans. Joe Procario a Vietnam vet joined me as guest co-host today during my interview with Rick Smith, head of Central Ohio K-9 Search and Rescue. We talked about some of the work that Ron Cassady, one of the handlers, does and how they go about a search. We discussed the use of the dogs for search, water dogs, cadaver dogs, the breeds used for this type of work and a little about the differences between them. Also I wanted to mention the recent loss of a dear friend of thiers, Marty M. Martin. He was a very young 35 years old and from what Rick said about him, it was a great loss to the community as well as his family and friends. All right, Show number three is in the books. What a pleasure to speak with Janice Phelps Williams author of Open Your Heart With Pets - Mastering Life through Love of Animals. Janice is not only an author but a book designer and illustrator as well. She is a blogger for  seattlepi.com and her blog is called Open Your Heart With Pets also! Janice discusses the thought and process behind the writing of her book and how to truely open your heart but in a responsible way. Janice explains the 3 components of pet guardianship as well as "children and pets" and how parents should go through the steps of choosing the proper pet for a child. Janice has had extensive experience with animals of all types including those with fur, fins, and feathers and she talks a bit about them all!We have a special show scheduled for next Tuesday Sept. 2, 2008 - 6 to 7pm EST. We will be talking to Colleen Mihelich of Peternity.com pet memorials.Thanks to Planet Dog for supplying the product of the week! Well I had the setting for the music to start playing automatically which did not work... and for what reason I don't know. I have worked with computers for the last 20 years, program my own Web site, and do my own graphics work, and I cannot believe that it is really this difficult. I'm sure I'm making it harder than it has to be. I think we are getting more issues taken care of with the format schedule as we go but are still having a bit of problem with the functionality. Well, The first show!It was memorable, from the intro music being too long right to the outro music being TOO LOUD! Dailing the wrong number and almost missing the first cue we made it in just under the wire and on time. We had a little mic trouble and I was a little muffled during certain parts of the show. With all of the external promotion going on around the book, being away, and manufacturing this week, I think I was lucky just to get the first show on the air let alone make it flawless. Learning the switchboard and controlling the show for the first time was really not too bad, although I think anything ...the first time... is a learning experience. Butch seemed to handle it well, he did enjoy the Pet Product of the week "Obrbee-Tuff ZOOM Flyer from Planet dog" (www.planetdog.com).  Special thanks to my friend and first guest co-host Joe Lagani for helping me wade through this initial "trial-by-radio."SO, we have a little work to do now that we have a good bench mark to grade! It shouldn't be difficult to top next time ...ironing out some of the technical details should be easy and trimming down the "UMMS" and, "Absolutelys" and "You Know's." This is the fun of building something fun. Join us in the coming weeks and listen to us get better as we move along! You gotta hear Joe and My critique of this first show, we're laughing already, and we are a couple of producers!!!! Oh Yeah By The way... I want to apologize to the callers who called in during the show that we did not see! We have a large screen tied into the two computers, now all I have to do is actually look at it!
