      • WELCOME TO THE WINNERS CIRCLE FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 09 (Because we all are wiiners) HELLO TO ALL ZUNE MEMBERS AND WINNER CIRCLE MONTHLY READERS. NAMASTE. THANK-YOU YOU ALL FOR GRACIOUS COMMENTS, AND SUPPORT FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. A SHOUT OUT TO THE NOVEMBER HAPPY HOLIDAYS LIKE ALL SAINTS DAY, ALL SOULS DAY, REMEMBRANCE DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY AND THE ISLAMIC HOLIDAY EID AL ADHA, AND THE JEWISH HOLIDAYS, HANUKKAH / CHANUKAH. "Hope and the Environment" is the topic this month. Do you listen to people who say we have polluted our environment past the point of hope? I don't, and I'll tell you why. There are some doom and gloom environmentalists and others out there, who, for their own misguided reasons, would rob the rest of us of hope. I believe that a hopeless attitude is just as dangerous as anything we could do to pollute the environment. Hopelessness is like a lethal nerve gas - it prevents us from seeing the kind of world we want for our children and grandchildren, and then doing what we need to do to create it. Hopelessness will kill the dream of a healthy planet quicker than all the holes in the ozone layer and all the chemicals released into the atmosphere put together. To hope is not foolish. If you look for reasons to despair, you will find them. But if you choose, instead, to look for reasons to hope, you will find them also. Why not collect hopeful signs, like some folks collect stamps, coins or baseball cards? Then, when you hear people saying that it doesn't matter what we do, because it is too late to save the environment, tell them they are wrong. Prove it with examples from your collection. Yes, there is work to be done and we will find the tools to use. Each of us can make a difference - you can make a difference!

      • WELCOME TO THE WINNER CIRCLE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 09 (Because we all are winners) Do you look at the future with hope and a belief that no matter what comes your way, you will succeed? Or, do you look at the future as hopeless, and there's nothing that can be done to change it? What you believe has a lot to do with how well you weather the challenges in life. Continuing on with our conversation thread of this week, today let's talk about how our beliefs affect what happens to us. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1) As human beings, we move toward and become like what we think about; and 2) Our present thoughts determine our future. As human beings, we are teleological or goal-oriented. Also, we are picture-oriented. We think in pictures. If I say, "red apple" you don't see the words "red" and "apple." In your mind, you actually "see" a red apple. You see, we don't see with our eyes. We pick up light with our eyes and then it is translated into images in our brains, depending upon how we've been conditioned to translate the light. Words create pictures, and we are drawn to pictures. So, if you believe the future is hopeless, you will be drawn to every hopeless, depressing, "it's only going to get worse" story you can find. We are comfortable when we find evidence to prove what we believe is true, and we act in accordance with those beliefs. This is also known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. "I knew it was going to be bad, and it is." The same thing holds true if we believe the future is full of opportunity, and that we have the power to make it even better. We will see evidence of the possibilities, and be drawn to them because that's what we are thinking about. It is not surprising that people who look with positive intent are healthier, happier and more successful. How do we make that switch in belief? It's all about changing that internal picture you hold, it isn't going to happen by accident. It will come by your intent.

      • WELCOME TO THE WINNER CIRCLE FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2009(Because we all are winners!) Welcome Zune networkers, loyal readers, and friends. This month's message is addressing loneliness. Loneliness is something most of us dread, but even loneliness has its positive aspects. Loneliness can be painful, but, as with other things, it is your attitude toward loneliness that counts. You can take a negative attitude, in which case you may either run from being alone like the plague or wallow in it, immersed in self-pity. You can also take a positive attitude, recognizing it as an essential experience of every human being and using it creatively as a resource for knowing the self, and discovering your center and focus in life. It is only when we can stand alone, when we can admit our separateness, that we can make full use of our individual resources to set about finding our meaningful connections with others. You see, when the love and understanding with which we reach out to others is based upon a true sense of the self that we have discovered in confrontation with our loneliness, then it is based on reality instead of on false expectations. You alone can change yourself. You alone can make a decision for growth. You alone are the central point of reference in your life. Knowing these things can be a lonely experience, but out of it can comea greater strength and confidence in your ability to meet life and provide inner security that fear cannot destroy. • WELCOME TO THE WINNERS CIRCLE FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE.2009 (BECAUSE WERE ALL WINNERS) This came to me one night while watching the world turn. If you see something violent in a movie or on TV and you imitate it who is responsible? This is an interesting question, and one that bears some serious thought. If a kidnapper imitates something she saw in a movie, are the moviemakers responsible for her actions? Not as far as I'm concerned. If a murderer says he was inspired by something he saw on a TV show, is the TV show responsible? I sure don't think so. Now, don't get me wrong. I believe our entertainment media should aim for high-quality productions that improve character and inspire us to live better lives. But the best way to ensure that this happens is to "vote with your feet" so to speak. In other words, refrain from buying products sponsoring shows that conflict with your moral values, and write to the sponsors telling them how you feel. The same goes for movies. Don't plunk your money down at the box office if you're concerned about the movie's message, no matter how long the lines are to get in the door. And let's not be confused about personal accountability, either. Except in the case of a genuine and serious mental illness, each of us is responsible for our own actions, no matter what the circumstances. It does no one any good to blame a TV show, a movie, the media, the so-called "system," or society in general for individual acts of violence or immorality. Personal accountability is the cornerstone of a healthy society just as it is an essential part of a healthy individual
