The Source is essentially an alias for British producer, DJ, and performer
John Truelove, who also travels under the names
Lectrolux and
Now Voyager, among other tags. Originally the name
the Source was used by Source Records when the label released "You Got the Love" featuring
Candi Staton in 1986. Three years later
Truelove put
Staton's vocal over a track by
Frankie Knuckles, turning it into a club hit, and eventually
Truelove began using
the Source as a release alias, one of many he would use. In 1997
Truelove signed with XL Recordings and released a 12" EP called
Clouds, which featured four different mixes of the
Chaka Kahn song "Clouds" sung by
Kahn's sister,
Yvonne Stevens, who is credited on the EP as
Taka Boom. Whether there will be future releases under the name
the Source is uncertain, but
Truelove, founder of Truelove Label Collective, is a very busy man with many recordings hitting the clubs under a variety of names. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
