biography

A product of the New York City goth scene, Voltaire first earned attention as a director and stop-motion animator, helming station IDs for MTV, the Sci-Fi Channel and other cable outlets. He also produced a number of comic book projects, among them Chi-Chian and Oh My Goth. Voltaire's debut LP, The Devil's Bris, appeared on the Projekt label in mid-1998. It mixed lush vocals over the chaos of violins and cellos. The pop-influenced Almost Human appeared in summer 2000; while Boo Hoo continued Voltaire's glossy pop experimentation two years later. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

  - His music has always been one of those things I can just listen to over and over and it always gets a smile out of me. I've seen him live twice and they were quite honestly the best shows I've been to. The venues are small, but they're just so entertaining. Voltaire is the man!

  - I heard him through Billy and Mandy and found that song. Then, like so many others, got hooked on When You're Evil.
    
    I bought all his stuff and say him live. Live shows are the best shows and his are no different. He's such a nice guy, too.
