biography

Southern gangsta rappers Pimp C and Bun B formed UGK (aka Underground Kingz) in the late '80s and signed to Jive Records for their major-label debut album, 1992's Too Hard to Swallow. After second album Super Tight..., UGK hit the R&B charts with 1996's Ridin' Dirty, which ascended to the number two spot. Dirty Money followed in late 2001. Pimp C began serving at three-year jail sentence in early 2002, putting UGK on ice until 2007, when the double album Underground Kingz appeared. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

  - UGK is one of those groups that I truly GREW up on I was 12 when I first heard UGK and "Tell Me Something Good" / "Pocket Full Of Stones" I'm going to be 29 this year! When so many OTHER groups are so busy trying to attract *NEW* listeners...Bun B & Pimp C. always said they're making the music for the 500,000 people who have supported them 1st and then everything else is GRAVY. Hearing them say that on the DVD makes a supporter/fan feel good! I'll NEVER forget the times that I've seen them perform here in Birmingham. Club Platinum went nutz when Pimp hit the stage!?!? He had just gotten released a week or so prior. He was godly rocking a red Dickies suit. They will always be my niggaz! Long Live The PIMP. The best at making COUNTRY RAP TUNEZ! Smoke Sumthin' Bitch!
