the true spirit of the 60s

By glikogliko 7/14/2009 21:00:27
In the last 30 years I listened so many times the  full discography by Townshend, Moon,Entwistle and Daltrey, that it is part of me now.
I think the Who represent the true spirit of the english music of the 60s and the 70s, much better than other like Beatles and Stones.

How I love this band. Was one of the best of all time... right there next to the Beatles.

The Who Will Always Rule Music

By CobraQueen85 3/20/2009 22:08:13
Daltry, Townsend, Entwhistle and Moon: a lethal combination that just always seemed to work. They have had their share of good and bad, but always came through all the better for it.

Tommy, can you hear me?

By klaks 1/2/2009 18:41:03
Love this band.

Tommy and Quadrophenia were both amazing pieces of work, and can best be appreciated as an entire album, rather than picking out the hits like Pinball Wizard and listening to these alone.

While the band may have peaked in the late 60's, early 70's, they continued to put out some excellent records through the 70's and 80's.  After Keith Moon died, the sound changed, either because of the lack of Moon's driving drumming, or because of the emotional change the surviving members went through, Pete in particular.

After Entwistle died, the sound changed again, and the angst so prevalent in the earlier work is almost entirely absent.  They are, after all, getting old.  Endless Wire sounds more like a Townshend or Daltry solo album than a Who record.

The Who Continue

By SpacingSoozyQ 12/15/2008 14:30:25
I have seen the Who in every decade, since the 1960s and Woodstock-still the Greatest Rock Band sans two that are not replaceable.

Simply the best

By Catcher 10 8/22/2008 21:11:26
There isn't a singer alive (or dead) that could have interpreted Pete's songs better than Roger Daltrey. As much as they were opposites in life....they were completely the same in the studio or on stage.<br/>Their songs will live forever......
