biography

Jeff Martin grew up in Windsor, Ontario, just across the Detroit River from the home of proto-punk and the Motown sound; he was also influenced by his blues-loving father. He formed the Tea Party with multi-instrumentalists Stuart Chatwood (bass, keyboards, mandolin and harmonium) and Jeff Burrows (drums, percussion). Martin himself plays guitars, sitar, hurdy gurdy and harpguitar. Consequently, the trio's sound marries rock with elements of Middle Eastern, Celtic and Mediterranean music. Their 1993 album, Splendor Solis, sold over one million copies in Canada; The Edges of Twilight followed, trailed in 1997 by Transmission. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

      • The Tea Party was an absolutely insane band, their sound and mixing between different cultures of music was phenomenal and the excel in all genres they dabble in.  Every song had an eerie quality to it and Martin is one of the best all-around guitarists/musicians I've heard in a long while.  I'm damn glad to hear about these guys and proud to say that they're a fav. band, TTP ROCKS FOREVER!

      • The Tea Party is (was) an amazing band.  Can zune get a bio of the band that is maybe a little more current than 10 YEARS out of date.  These guys deserve more respect than this.  I'm sure crap current bands like fallout boy (retch) don't have to deal with this kind of back-handed disrespect.

      • I wish they were still together and producing music!  Not only are they great to listen to I would love to choreograph some bellydancing to them.  They ARE my absolute favourite band!
