Remember The Specials? They were an English pop/ ska revival band who
had a few number one hits in the late 70s and early 80s. Lead singer
Terry Hall also wrote “Our Lips Are Sealed” for the Go-Gos, which
turned out to be the most popular song anyone involved with this band
ever had, at least here in the United States. Well, the group is back
together minus original keyboardist Jerry Dammers who is none-too-happy
about his forced exit from the band he founded.
According to NME,
the group was unwilling to speak about Dammers’ exit because of ongoing
litigation, but they did announce five new gigs after their first round
of gigs sold out this morning. The dates start at the end of April and
run through the beginning of May. Tickets are still available for the
newly announced shows.
The Specials have added more tour dates to their reunion jaunt next year, after selling-out their first batch of shows.
This morning the group sold 45,000 tickets for their April / May
2009 tour, and now fans will have even more chances to see the ska
legends live.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their debut single
'Gangsters', 3 further Brixton Academy dates have been added as well as
extra shows in Glasgow and Manchester.
