Music for the mind and soul

I will argue with anyone that The Roots is and will continue to be the best group out there.  I remember watching "Distortion to Static" on Urban Xpressions as a youngster of 14 years old.  I have been in love ever since (I am 30 now).  Tragically I have not been able to go to one of there concerts yet.  It just hasn't been in the stars.  I have made it a goal to go to a concert the next time they are in Dallas.

I've been on The Roots bandwagon since Proceed, I think I may have been 13 or 14 at the time. I love them, they're my #1 Hip-Hop group; I never miss them when they come to Atlanta because the live shows are always amazing. Anyone who's been sleeping on hip-hop for awhile because of lack of talent, put in The Roots...you'll come back.

you may argue with runDMC or who knows what else but all i know is... runDMC didnt constantly produce hit albums for almost 20 years know, did they?

On their albums, The Roots make great hip hop with tight beats and provocative rhyme. I think their real strength is live performance. The first time I saw them live is when I realized the true level of talent they had. This band could play anything, and do it well. If you have a chance, check out their live show.

Why I Love Hip Hop

These guys are the sole reason I even gave Hip Hop a chance. I used to think Hip Hop and Rap were one and the same until I heard Roots Come Alive. No D.J. just Rahzel or Scratch beat boxing. A true ever evolving band. Political and fun just the same. If you don't know Hip Hop check these guys out. Seeing them live is better than any rock show I've been to except maybe Tool.
