biography

Skindred blend reggae and dancehall with searing thrash and punk influences for a striking take on heavy metal hybridism. The group emerged from Wales in 1998, after the dissolution of vocalist Benji Webbe's previous band, Dub War. Rehearsals for a new project featuring other Dub War veterans didn't work out, but soon Webbe had hooked up with bassist Daniel Pugsley, guitarist Mikey Dee, and drummer Dirty Arya, and Skindred were officially born. The debut LP, Babylon, first appeared in 2002 and 2003, with sporadic success in parts of Europe and the U.S. metal underground. But it wasn't until a year or so later and Lava's involvement that the album really took off. Skindred re-released Babylon in August 2004. Lava's version featured different cover art, and included newly recorded material in addition to the original, Howard Benson-helmed songs. The band released Roots Rock Riot in 2007, followed by Shark Bites and Dog Fights in 2009. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

  - for a long bout uhh 2 years after they came out or so i loved skindred (i still do) and now more people know them i was walkin and i was supised to hear some one play them in their car, and i was suprised that a radio station plays them (buzz 103, buzz103.com) i remember i went to their website when i just started to listen to them and it said tell ur local station to play Skindred and theyd send a single or somethin. O and go to youtube and type in Jungle Bells, Vampire killa, & kiss and make up. Its cool skindred wrote The Fear with Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, & topper headon( for people who dont know thats The Clash)

  - Benji Webb Composed a song with Bullet For My Valentine which was called "Take It Out On Me" I recommend listening to that song if u like Benji Webbs voice and never heard that song b4.Also "Trouble" is a FUCKING AWESOME song!

  - I saw them live once and had never heard of them, but after the show i was amazed i actually enjoyed them more then the headline band. A very good band to get hyper to. Recommended album "babylon" favorite song " set it off"
