biography

Brian Aubert (guitar/vocals), Nikki Monninger (bass), Christopher Guanlao (drums), and Joe Lester (keyboards) comprise the swarthy indie rock stylings of Silversun Pickups. The quartet's textured melodies capture the hypnotic dream pop threads of My Bloody Valentine and pop bitter sweetness of Earlimart, and such a blend has wowed their native L.A. since 2005. Silversun Pickups issued their debut release, the six-song Pikul EP that same year while shared show dates with the likes of Brendan Benson, Dead Meadow, Two Gallants, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club followed into 2006. Produced by Dave Cooley (Rolling Blackouts, Citizen King, Smash Mouth), their full-length debut Carnavas, arrived in July. The group got the word out with some intensive international touring throughout 2006 and 2007, supporting OK Go and Snow Patrol in the U.S. and Foo Fighters and Kaiser Chiefs in the U.K. and Europe. Their second full-length, Swoon, hit the shelves in 2009 and made a strong showing with its first single, "Panic Switch." Also out in 2009 was the five-track sampler Connect Set. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

      • Little Lover's So Polite

      • My little sister played "Little Lover's So Polite" for me and I was hooked from that point on.  They are one of the best new bands and Carnavas may well be one of the best albums in a long time.

      • Awesome

      • Carnavas is one of the best albums I've listened to in forever.  Lazy Eye got me to taste, but I got hooked with Three Seed, Well Thought out Twinkles and Melatonin.  It's been front-and-center in my rotation for a solid month.

      • The soundtrack to my life?

      • I first heard Well Thought Out Twinkles on IMF and after that I immediately went out and bought their CD and Im glad I did. Brian, Nikki, Chris, and Joe are all geniuses at what they play. Their music has just become the soundtrack to my life.

      • And Suddenly There You Were

      • It was by a strange coincidence that I met you, Silversun Pickups. My girlfriend came over and she liked to sleep with the radio on. It tended to bother me for the first few nights... but then on the third night I heard Lazy Eye and my life was changed! I immediately went out and bought your CD. I was surprised to find that I loved every single song on the album and went searching for more. (I ususally like a few songs and loathe the rest) Fortunately for us all... you're recording a new album, Swoon, and I couldn't be happier!!!

        Check these guys out!
