Of all the artists that have managed to hang on through the decades, Peter is the one I can always point to and say that he is the most relevant. His music, style, passion, realism and creativity are all things that have been truly influential to many artists and acts over the years. But the man goes beyond his craft. He embraces technology. He explores and implements different kinds of music from around the world. He understands the Earth (which includes that Big Blue Ball we live on) as a community. He's a people person who knows no difference between race, religion, sex, creed or status. He is compassionate, reasonable, articulate, communicative and very intelligent. And he gets INVOLVED. Few celebrities honestly make an effort, let alone a difference, in the world like Peter does. I've been a big fan of his since Genesis. His music is often considered thought-provoking, industrious, unique and out-of-the-box. It's not for everyone but all who listen to him can appreciate his mastery. There is no genre that he wholly falls within (although avant-garde seems to be attributed to him the most). My favourite songs by Peter are "Wallflower", "Red Rain", "Secret World", "Family Snapshot" and the studio bit "This Is The Road". An innovative artist who is constantly pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, he truly is music's Thinking Man. If there was ever a single message that he wanted to get through to people, it's clearly stated in a beautiful yet simple piece called "Fourteen Black Paintings." Give it a listen and you'll know what I'm talking about.
