Party Fun Action Committee -- a rap duo, not a Japanese lobbyist dedicated to hedonism -- was formed by
Blockhead and Jer to send up the wussier aspects of turn-of-the-millennium hip-hop, including rap-rock (
Limp Bizkit), geek hop (
MC Paul Barman), and assorted other easy targets (fratboys,
Ja Rule, "intelligent" rappers). The fact that at least one member had a hype-heavy resumé himself (
Blockhead productions have appeared on
Aesop Rock and
S.A. Smash releases, and he's recorded for breakbeat haven Ninja Tune) did nothing to dull their surprisingly keen blade.
Let's Get Serious, a concept record arranged around two industry hacks discussing a demo tape, was released on Def Jux in mid-2003. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
