Seriously. Opeth is like the ultimate band.

They are fucking amazing.

Opeth is very difficult to describe.  They are absolutely everything that is right with modern rock and metal.  They are the evolution of where the genre needed to go.  Equally as brutal as they are melodic, the band absolutely makes most modern American rock, metal, what have you, look cheap and uninspired by comparison.  Metallica that includes you.

Mikael Akerfeldt is the most artistic musical genius of our time.

This man will lead you on a musical education that will leave you speechless. This is a man who makes music like bach,beethoven,chopin,mozart of there time. Bands like metallica and tool should be grateful there from Sweden, because we would all hail Opeth!!!

Bi-polar music, thats what I classify Opeth.  From anger to calmness to happiness to sadness all these emotions you can gather from them and usually 2 or more emotions per song.  Brilliantly put together with the music showing alot of feeling with or without lyrics.  I've never heard anything as beautiful ever made.  Greatest band ever put together hands down.

Definitely one of the best bands you've never heard.  I bought Blackwater Park by accident while in Europe and have been following ever since.  No other band has written such gripping, heavy, and beautiful music.  Even their lighter, acoustic, "Damnation" has incredible depth.

Yes they are great musicians, but I doubt most people could get past the cookie monster vocals.  Myself included.  Damnation is great CD though.  Beautiful and haunting.

We need more bands like these guys. I thoroughly believe that if Opeth were to get more mainstream attention they'd be hailed as legendary songwriters along the likes of Metallica. With a entirely unique ability to craft epic sweeping melodies that blend seamlessly with ear-crushing blast-beat cookiemonster growl heaviness, Opeth is without question the most talented act in progressive metal today.<br/>

 is a great example of their ability to mix incredibally heavy sections with very delicate soft sections, without it feeling forced.<br/>Opeth has an ability unknown in much of metal. The ability to be subtle. And that seperates true art from the rest.
