biography

Chicago-based Muslim MC Lupe Fiasco began rapping in junior high school and joined a group called Da Pak several years later. The group signed to Epic, released one single, and split up, all before Fiasco reached the age of 20. Thanks in part to the vocal support of Jay-Z, L.A. Reid signed Fiasco as a solo artist to Arista, but before anything of significance was able to happen (only a promo single and a couple guest appearances were set up), Reid was fired, leaving the MC without a label. Fiasco eventually landed at Atlantic. Preceded by the single "Kick, Push," as well as several mixtapes and an appearance on Kanye West's "Touch the Sky," the album Food & Liquor was set to surface during early 2006, though an unfinished version leaked during the spring, pushing its official release back to September instead. The album earned Fiasco three Grammy nominations. A highly conceptualized follow-up, The Cool, was released in December 2007. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

  - Lupe Fiasco is trule lyrically gifted. These past too albums have been good as shit. And his mixtapes is always on point. When I listen to his CD's i dont even have to skip through the songs i can jus let it play cuz every song is hott!!! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR " LASERS" to come out in December. I Jus saw him in concert sat. Oct, 10th, 2009. Right in the front, dead center, touchin the stage. The show was amazing!!!! Cant wait to see him again. The man is a genius and i kno music.   - yo lupe is dope and if you guys are just listening to superstar and kick push you need to dig in the lupe archives and listen to all of his work food and liquor is arguably one of the best hip hop albums ever and lupe lyrics are so fresh im not jokin or anything but he has never made a wack track in his whole underground and commercial career i cant wait for lasers
