Contemporary R&B star Jazmine Sullivan spent several years learning the ropes of the recording industry before signing to J Records and making her solo recording debut in 2008 with the number one R&B single "Need U Bad." The Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter began her career at a young age, making her national television debut on Showtime at the Apollo at age 11 and signing to Jive Records at age 15. Her stint at Jive lasted only a couple years, however, and she was dropped by the label before any recordings were released. In the wake of this disappointment, she began working behind the scenes, for instance working with Missy Elliott on productions for Fantasia's debut album, Free Yourself (2004), and writing a couple songs for Christina Milian's third album, So Amazin' (2006), including the hit single "Say I." Sullivan was then offered a solo recording contract with J, which released her debut single, "Need U Bad," featuring and co-produced by Missy Elliott, in 2008. Fearless, her debut album, featuring productions by Salaam Remi and Stargate, among others, was issued that September. It topped the R&B chart and crossed over to reach number six on the Billboard 200, aided by "Bust Your Windows" and "Lions, Tigers & Bears" -- both of which went into the Top Ten of the R&B chart.     I'm so sick of the industry and their shallow bs.  I mean if the decades were flipped and executives back then were shallow mf'ers we wouldn't have our Aretha's, Patti LaBelle's, Gladys Knights, Al Green's, James Browns simply because their looks wouldn't "fit" their illusionary standards.  Think about it!!!

    Jazmine Sullivan is a freakin beast. Her voice is out of this world!!! She's a
    true artist, I mean one that has been raised up on this music thing
    because when she sings, you feel it in your soul.  What folks don't have souls anymore???  WTF, well I still do and when she sings she stirs it up.  We have very few artist that can do that out right now which is a shame. 

    Two albums both of which are fantastic, who can say too.  She needs more exposure, can we get back to talent.  I'm sick of the superficial crap.  I NEED those Jazmine Sullivans, she's caring on our musical legacy like the greats before her.  We can't afford to let talents like hers to be washed out by those clowns in suits.

    I'm already feeling this single, she puts sooo much of herself into it, she reminds of Lauryn Hill singing style a little bit, I think that she'll go far, ya heard me? :)  I love the video for Lions, Tigers, and Bears...:)

    U got to give Ms. Sullivan her credit she put her  thang down as a new artist. The album is an instant classic. She has her own style that is refreshing and a change from the norm R&B!  Living a Lie, In Love with another man, or dream big!  She came with it on this album that you can't help but be a fan!! Much love.....
