biography

The New Haven, CT-based Hatebreed got together in 1993 for the purpose of creating a "back to basics" hardcore band with heavy, metallic guitars, screaming vocals, and 30-second songs. Consisting of Jamey Jasta (vocals), Lou "Boulder" Richards (guitar), Chris Beattie (bass), Sean Martin (guitar), and Rigg Ross (drums), Hatebreed had the chance to play throughout the East Coast while sharing the stage with the likes of Entombed, the Deftones, Slayer, and Napalm Death. By 1997, Victory Records released the quintet's debut full-length, entitled Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire. The group signed with Stillborn/Republic/Universal for 2002's Perseverance and 2003's Rise of Brutality. Supremacy arrived on Roadrunner Records in 2006, featuring new guitarist Frank Novinec (who'd previously spent time playing with Ringworm, Terror, and Integrity). Guitarist Wayne Lozinak joined the band in 2008. The band released For the Lions, a covers album, in May of 2009, followed by a new, self-titled studio album in September. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide

      • I've Been In The Pit

      • I've been in the pit at a Hatebreed show. The energy is incredible. With
that being said let me address what TheNewWorldMan4 said. First let me
        quote him....

" Im sorry but i hate this band. This isn't metal, you want metal try
listening to Megadeth, Iron Maiden, OZZY. I think a real metal band
doesn't need to put their guitars in drop C or drop B or tune it 3
steps down. A real metal band can make heavy riffs in standard tuning."

        I
don't have to fry an egg for it to be an egg. I can scramble the hell
out of it and it will still be an egg.  (By the way I am a Chef & can
cook an egg probably more ways than you have heard of... does this mean
that I'm not a Chef?) If you want to limit your bag of tricks then go
ahead. I love Megadeth, Maiden, & Ozzy. I've seen them all live.
Hatebreed is gourmet metal. Too bad that your taste has not developed
beyond the kids stuff yet. Don't worry one day you will be able to
        order from the adult menu.

      • Actually Hatebreed is metal.  They are hardcore metal.  They are not classic metal like Maiden or Ozzy.  Or thrash or remotely close to Megadeth... but they have their place in the metal community.  It's HARDCORE.  Looking forward to the self titled coming out at the end of Sept.  P.S. If you like Hatebreed check out Cataract and Born From Pain.  They are both very good as well.
