biography

Toronto modern hard rock quintet Evans Blue came together around 2003 after its members found each other by chance through a local musician's message board. Comprised of vocalist Matisyn, guitarists Parker Lauzon and Vlad Tanaskovic, bassist Joe Pitter, and drummer Darryl Brown, the group signed with Pocket Recordings in 2005, entering Pocket Studios with Trevor Kustiak (Cool for August) soon after. The result was their debut, The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume, jointly released in February 2006 by Pocket and Hollywood Records. A spring tour supporting Taproot followed, during which Brown left unannounced, to later be replaced by Davis Howard. In July 2007 the band's second album, The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal of Life Ends, hit shelves. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

      • For all those old school Evans Blue fans out there if you don't already know, I would like to inform all that Kevin Matisyn has a new band!!!  They are called Parabelle...To say they are awesome is a complete understatement...They are so much more.  If you are an old school EB fan, and you haven't already, I strongly urge all to check out Parabelle.  I promise you won't be disappointed.  Available on www.parabellemerch.com, and Itunes.

      • Evans Blue is amazing. The first cd I liked more when I started listening to them, but as I listened more I liked the second one better. Sadly the lead singer quit, but they got a new lead singer named Chandler and the new album is about to come out soon. They have a Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin vocal mix. It's cool, just not the same.

      • I first saw these guys when they opened for Breaking Ben a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. I've heard some of the new stuff but since Kevin Matisyn has left the music just doesn't have the same power for me. I'll stick w/ The Melody and The Pursuit and keep them playin religiously.

      • A good range of different songs that are all well written and tasteful.  Most are emotionally charged but still don't feel emo.  Good things will come out of this band...

      • Evan's Blue is probably one of the better bands to come out in recent memory. Every song is a good song, and there doesn't seem to be a weak point on either of their two albums.
