Excellent Power Metal

By Gelatus 1/14/2009 17:44:47
I agree with HHammerhead, Edguy is one of the most talented and prolific metal bands out there. "Theater of Salvation" is their most impressive album in my opinion. When I first listened to "The Headless Game" I really felt the energy these guys put out. And "Land of the Miracle" is such a beautiful ballad. This is high quality metal folks.

If you like Edguy I would recommend Gamma Ray, also from Germany.

Edguy - Fav band of the '00s

By HHammerhead 1/6/2009 02:27:52
Edguy has to be my absolute favorite band of this decade.  Take '80s Iron Maiden and make them a bit happier and commercial and you have Edguy.  Add Tobias Sammet's side project Avantasia into the mix and these guys are extremely prolific.  Between Edguy and Avantasia they've released about an album a year and all of the material is very good if not excellent.  The music borders from serious epic metal work like Avantasia's "The Seven Angels" or Edguy's "The Piper Never Dies" to toungue-in-cheek romps like Edguy's "Lavatory Love Machine" or "New Age Messiah".   Best of all in my book, no Cookie Monster vocals.  Tobi is a fantastic lead singer in the vein of Bruce Dickinson, again with a sense of humor.  If you have a chance to catch Edguy live, do it.  They're fantastic.
