biography
David Archuleta became one of the most recognizable figures on television in 2008, when his strong tenor vocals and boyish charm helped earn him a second-place finish in American Idol's seventh season. Although born in Miami, FL, Archuleta spent most of his childhood in Utah, where he lived with his parents (Jeff, a jazz trumpeter, and Lupe Maire, a Honduran salsa singer) and four siblings. Inspired by a videotaped performance of Les Miserables, he began singing at age six, and his talent allowed him to secure performances at the Utah Talent Competition, The Jenny Jones Show, and Star Search, where he was crowned Junior Vocal Champion in 2003.
David Archuleta auditioned for American Idol in 2007, earning his first praise from the judging panel with a rendition of John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change." He advanced to the semifinals and remained with the show throughout its entire season, delivering strong, passionate performances of such pop ballads as "Another Day in Paradise," "Angels," and John Lennon's "Imagine." At 17 years old, Archuleta was the season's youngest contestant, and the constant presence of his father raised some questions about David's ability to make decisions on his own. His confident vocals did not invite much skepticism, however, as he ultimately emerged as the first runner-up to David Cook and inked a deal with 19 Recordings. "Crush," the first single from his self-titled debut album, debuted at number two in August, while the accompanying David Archuleta followed in November.
Archuleta's album went gold within several months, and the singer spent the first half of 2009 touring alongside McFly in the U.K. and Disney star Demi Lovato in America. - Just wanted to let everyone know and if your a big fan like me you probably already do, but you can pre-order David's Christmas album on Amazon.com, but don't forget to download it on Zune once it comes out on Oct 13th. have seen him about 10 times live. AWESOME, Oh almost forget. David will be on the Alma Awards on Sept. 18th on ABC at 8PM.

- Congrats to David!! He won Breakout Artist, Love Song:Crush, and Summer Tour w/ Demi Lovato!!!!!! No one deserves it more than David!! He's sweet, humble, a great voice and personality, cute, and sooo much more!!!!!!

- JMANDRUMS, While I agree with about 99% of what you said about David Archuleta, the only thing that I wouldn't go so far as to say is... That I would not say that "...He has a long way to go to make it to the very top of the music world..." When you should not Under-Estimate his potential, when other Very Young Talent has done Great Things in the music industry, within a relatively short ammount of time... So, I wouldn't say that... Especially, since his first album is doing better than "MOST NEY-SAYERS" and even what some other people expected of him in the first place!!! After comparing both CD's of David Cook vs. David Archuleta for sustainability of talent, I found that David Cook's CD did have SOME good songs with Fair to Pretty Good Vocals on them... Mainly, the releases from his CD were pretty good... BUT, I did find a couple of his tracks having too much "ANNOYINGLY-TYPICAL & REPETITIOUS GUITAR-GRINDING" to them, instead of any REAL CREATIVITY TO THEM... So, I would NOT put it "As beyond the reach of David Archuleta's ability, to Blow David Cook Out of the Water in Record Sales alone..." Mainly based on the FACT, that Very Few "American Idol Hard-Rocker-Types" that have made it to the finals, have seldomly done as well as someone that is more within David Archuleta's "General Popular Music Type & Personality." Thanks for your feedback & support of David Archuleta... I apprciate & respect your comments ;-)
