The guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter of Southern California-based band, the Big Wha-Koo, in the late-1970s, Danny Douma released an impressive solo album, Night Eyes, in 1979. Although it featured the all-star accompaniment of Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie on one tune, and Garth Hudson of the Band and Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac on another, the album failed to generate much commercial interest. After touring with Fleetwood Mac, as a supporting act, for most of 1979, Douma faded into obscurity. Douma's innovative guitar playing and songwriting were essential to Big Wha-Koo's reputation as one of the spearheads of Los Angeles' rock scene. While Big Wha-Koo was fronted by vocalist David Palmer, who had sung lead on Steely Dan's 1972 debut album, Can't Buy A Thrill, Douma penned most of the group's repertoire. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
