I have been a fan of Alice since I was a kid growing up in southern cailifornia,my very first album I was able to bye was Killer,I think I wore out every one of Alice albums at least a half dozen times,even Along Came A Spider is getting a little soiled, Thank heaven for my zune, Looking forward to zune HD even through my 8 gig is on suffle it is full of Alice,,One other thing I must add, Alice is the only rock star I waited in line over night to see at the Los Angeles forum when ever he appeared there...One of my greatest nights was when I was visiting Los Angeles a few years ago and Alice played at the House of Blues on the sunset strip..I was in the first row center, Like ten feet away,,I will never forget that night..

Alice is most recognized for his work in the early 70's and particularly his over-the-top theatrical concerts.  Everyone knows Schools Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy and the lot.  A often overlooked album is From the Inside, which was written after a stint in rehab, and each song characterizes a patent in a mental institution. It is a facinating piece of work worth listening to all the way through.

Something I love about Alice Cooper is that he just does not seem to take himself very seriously, and even his most taboo songs are laced with dark humor.  Alice continues to be prolific and puts out a new CD every year or so but these seem to echo his earlier work.  He also tours quite actively, though his campy stage antics seem a little dated now. I recommend his earlier stuff, and of course, 1978's From the Inside.
