Like the Orb's nasty, atonal, ground-wired Pomme Fritz, While's Even sacrifices pleasant melody for a series of belligerently disparate electronic elements. In "Chase," high-pitched pianos meet deep steel beats and an almost overwhelming crunched-up rhythm pattern. Fans of Frank Cochois' JFC project or any of Plaid's later material would enjoy this, especially when the template reappears in the album's stronger tracks, "Level" and "Moth."
