Sounds of the Seventies: 1976 is another fine entry in a series from the folks at Time-Life. This time around the collection is mainly made up of soft rock and lightweight album rock with a couple of disco and soul tracks thrown in to change things up. It makes for a less diverse listen than usual, but there are still many highlights like Donna Summer's outer space disco classic "Love to Love You Baby," the Steve Miller Band's easy "Rock'N Me," Gary Wright's easier "Dream Weaver," the Doobie Brothers' "Takin' It to the Streets," and the Spinners' "Rubberband Man." While it doesn't paint a very broad picture of what was going on musically in 1976, for the areas it covers the disc does the job. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
