Presented in association with Universal Music's new label Machete Music, created to respond to the tidal wave of worldwide interest in reggaeton, Sangre Nueva presents the new generation of reggaeton. Though many may be thinking, isn't reggaeton quite young to be reinventing itself with claims like "new blood" and "next generation?" The answer is, of course it is. But never the less, this group of MCs definitely offer a fresh perspective on what this new genre is capable of. When placed beside artists like Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, the musical production's sophistication and stylistic variation is a shot of new life, new blood. Featuring a host of guest artists, by and large Machete Music labelmates, the record doesn't hurt for variety. In a scene full to the rafters with reggaeton compilations, it can be hard to decide which one to buy. Sangre Nueva makes this decision a little easier, with a variety of facets to catch your attention. Merengue and salsa percussion samples, and a truly musical touch with the production are just a few of the new offerings of reggaeton's next generation.
