The third '80s compilation in Universal's as-seen-on-TV series (following Pure '80s and More Pure '80s), Pure '80s Hits collects 19 more of the decade's new wave, AOR, and mainstream pop/rock hits. Unfortunately, there are a few more clunkers and mediocrities on this volume than its predecessors, but there are enough big hits to make it a decent compilation overall, including John Waite's "Missing You," Night Ranger's "Sister Christian," Asia's "Heat of the Moment," INXS' "Need You Tonight," and Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels," plus the lower-charting classics like "Kids in America" by Kim Wilde and "A Million Miles Away" by the Plimsouls. If the majority of these songs aren't in your collection, this may be a good way to add them, but there are also more consistent '80s hits compilations available. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
