Electronica comps are a dime a dozen, it seems. I think I got one free with at least eight gallons of gas, once. So, to find one that I want to listen to repeatedly is a rare event. Future Perfect is just such a rarity. What grabs my ear first about these tracks is the juxtaposition of electronica beats with mundane sounds in an ante lazy to none-too-hyper allegretto. This puts in the category of ambient and techno for listening to, a required quality for a music enthusiast, not dance junky, like myself. In Hard Knee's "Extreme Breaks" I can see the drum kit snapping away evenly on snare and floor tom (maybe with an invisible drummer) to a melody line of bleeps. Time Blind's "Squeak Space!" gives us a fuzzy cymbal sound to keep pace for electronc chimes and a gong-like drone. Forceps and Greens gives us a 70s disco synth bassline with droning, faraway high-end keyboard harmony and interruptions of a mid-range and keyboard melody and lo-fi speech samples. Also on this disc is Ousia, Kranium, Metaphorwith an exotic mix of digeridoo, native vocals and Delta guitar, Tempest giving us a tempestuous mix of squelching and jerky beats of noise, Mindphaseone, Wix, Alley Puppet, Savage Aural Hotbed, Lost in Translation and A Most Happy Sound. ~ Tom Schulte, All Music Guide
