The Laurie label had many chart-toppers during their stint in the Top 40 hit parade of the '50s and '60s. This 22-song collection of soul, doo wop, pop and rock tracks does not in fact contain "Leader of the Pack," nor is it a collection of motorcycle songs. It does start very strong with all-time hits by
the Drifters,
Don Gibson,
Laverne Baker,
the Coasters,
the Chiffons,
Skeeter Davis (doing the still poignant "End of the World") and
Dion. The second half of the CD falls way short, with few even minor hits and many obscure artists. For the most purist nostalgia buffs this would be a cool pick-up for the right price, but only half a collection does not comprise true leaders. ~ Michael G. Nastos, All Music Guide
