Uriah Heep wasn't really a band made for singles-and-songles-oriented collections like 20th Century Masters, because they favored sweeping, heavy-prog epics that fit into their equally epic albums. And even in those terms, they were a bit of an acquired taste, since they melded those two excessive genres -- metal and prog -- in a particularly indulgent fashion. 20th Century Masters certainly conveys that accomplishment, and it does contain many fan favorites, which is enough to make this an effective sampler, even if it's unlikely to win many converts. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
