There have been plenty of best-of albums that compiled tropical singer
Tony Vega's biggest hits, but none have included "Solo Faltas Tu," from his 1990 masterpiece
Lo Mío Es Amor, which is just about the only attribute that makes
Pura Salsa stand out from the rest (the fact that the great "No Tengas Miedo" is also present doesn't hurt, either). Besides that, its selection choice, while good, doesn't differ from anything else out there, with songs like "Ella," "Yo Me Quedo," "Si Me Miras a Los Ojos," "Aparentemente," and "Esa Mujer" all finding space on this 14-track disc. It's a pretty decent collection, though, and the lesser-known pieces on it are enough to place
Pura Salsa among the better compilations in the
Tony Vega discography. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
