The Best of the Smiths collections didn't work because they didn't have a sense of history and distorted the underlying sense of urgency that helped make the Smiths important. Singles simply collects all of the singles from one of the greatest singles bands since the Beatles. - By for the least played on the radio in the 80s, yet one of the most popular bands of the 80s. This is one of the best collections of Smith songs. Why were they called the smiths when none of the members had that for a last name? Good question Hayt. The most popular last name in England is you guest it Smith. Back to this CD. I suggest "There is a light and it never goes out and A boy with a thorn in his side". Heck they are all good. I give this album 5 out of 5. More than worth the purchase price.
