I atest to the fact that this is a more refined sound than previous productions, but it's still great! I listen to a lot of heavier things, but as far as something that can get my blood pumping; this is it...
I don't want to state any negativity towards Metallica, but they kept refining in a more solemn, and boring way, at least Slipknot kept its pumping beats and rhythms...
I find myself listening to the live stuff from them; one of the few live CDs I actually like.
Before i had even knew who slipknot was i watched 1 of the music videos on the tv. it was Psychosocial. it weird in a kol kinda way! I've seen more of their videos and ive listened to the entire CD. itz an awsome CD!! i really love Dead Memories and Vendetta! mi best frend loves slipknot and people should thank him for gettin me into slipknot!!!!!! :DDD
10 years ago, I discovered a nine piece from Des Moines, whose brutal music was a definite soundtrack to my teenage aggression. But as they went on, and as I grew older, I've come to find that each album's release gets better and better. This is largely in part to the fact that I'm not a pissed off teenager anymore.
Everywhere I go, I hear naysayers saying that the last two albums are too Stone Sour for the true Slipknot fans. Well, coming from a 'Knot fan whose been there since the beginning, I couldn't disagree more. Yes, their songs have attained that similar level of melodic undertones, and there's a lot more actual singing as opposed to grunting. They've grown as individuals, as with all of us, and their life experiences shine through with this new album. It's the most personal album they've ever done. At the same time, they managed to find a happy medium between mainstream acceptance and musical credibility. And if that makes them sound like Stone Sour to those who want to bash them, that's your problem. This album rips
Okay so yea this isnt as heavy or hard hitting as some of their other albums but man this still is a rockin beat. if people are goin to knock em for taking a chance and writting something different like this then grew up... every band has to evolve somewhat and this is just a new evolution. i love it this album has some def hard slamming tracks but some others that are just kick ass lyrics that are well put together. i mean try to find a beter video then dead memories... the song and video are effin amazing!!
while gematria and Psychosocial and All hope is gone holds true to what we as maggots have come to know and love. This album was a big surprise to me especially because it seemed more like a Stone sour album i love it but i do wish it was a little heavier
If you hope for heavier, I pray that Herculean strength come to you so you may lift the metal that is.

Okay, so there's easily heavier out there, just because that's arguable, but slipknot can't make heavier. This is possibly just as raw as their self-titled, just better written. More talent and dynamics. Just when you think they can't play any more as one organism, they best themselves in just the slightest but felt way.

Crazy heavy. Crazy good, too.
