Either 1994's
Stellar Fungk: The Best of Slave or 2001's
Greatest Hits will suit you better than this skimpy set, a ten-track disc that includes a lot of
Slave's most memorable songs ("Slide," "Just a Touch of Love," "Watching You," "Just a Touch of Love") but fails to be fully representative. Also, four of the tracks come from
Steve Arrington's solo work and with his
Hall of Fame, a further disservice to the group. The sleeve design is no help, a brainless art department blunder using kaleidoscopic graphics that makes
Slave out to be some obscure psychedelic rock band from the '60s. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
