SKILLET has done it again, only better! AWAKE is fantastic. They don't do 'in your face' Christianity, but you get the messages. Not only do they convey God's love, but they also speak to the everyday person...all of us have problems, fears, relationship difficulties, and they balance the Christian message with everyday life and struggles we all endure.
If you've never caught them in concert, you do not know what you're missing. Get there....you will not be sorry or disappointed. They aim to please and please they do!!! They can rock the house like nobody's business.
I agree that the bonus track of "Monster" was unncessary. Everyone LOVES the monster growl, so I don't know why they chose to edit it out for commercial radio play. My favorite track is AWAKE AND ALIVE from this album. I find IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU my second fave and FORGIVEN third, but I love them all. I guess since I've been hearing HERO and MONSTER for a few months, they aren't as favored as they would have been had I just been hearing them for the first time since the album's release a couple of weeks ago.
The violin and cello really add that something special to their form of rock. AWESOME combo.
I LOVE YOU, SKILLET. KEEP BRINGING YOUR UNIQUE STYLE OF ROCK.
Ok so i admit im a hardcor fan of skillet, but that doesnt matter. i thnk that skillet has moved so far since collide especially with their transtions from the softer parts to the rock. i say that this cd is better in its own special way from all of the other cd's. it absolutely nails the softer more heart felt songs and especially with "Lucy". and yet they still have the amazing rock songs that got me hooked to skillet from the first time listening to their song "comatose". I totally agree with icewolfer93 the harmonies with their new drummer Jen Kooper are astounding, and that they hit the target especialy with "Awake and Alive" If you like Skillet at all then this cd is a must buy, oh and it is worth it to get the deluxe edition.
A phenomenal album, I would say it is either matching to Comatose or a tad under. There are many slower thoughtful songs on this album, but they still have a fair amount of pumping songs that they are well known for. [Thus my title balanced]
Overall a great album and the instrumental is beautiful along with wonderful harmonies!
A definite buy!
[My favorite songs are: "Hero", "Monster", and "Awake and Alive"]
The bonus songs are fairly good the only pointless song added in the Deluxe version is "Monster (Alternate Radio Version)" as it simply takes a small blip of the original song out and the rest is the same.
