album review

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out revealed the state of pop-punk/emo in 2005: it was hip to be self-aware. "Dear studio audience," Panic! at the Disco vocalist Brendon Urie quavers in "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage." "I've an announcement to make/It seems the artists these days are not who you think." He goes on to shout out, "Applause! applause!" His lyrics also say he's the narrator, but that's for debate, because later on Fever Urie hoots about meeting the press and his band being a "wet dream for the webzines," so who was actually worrying about stardom, the narrator or Panic! at the Disco? With Fever it was clear that the MySpace revolution had come full circle -- no longer just a convenient promotional tool, the site had become something to sing about. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

      • This CD...

      • is amazing. I mean they have a very broadway/techno/alternative(ish) sound. Amazing! The lyrics are just outrageously well written, the diction is outstanding and the rhythm is stupendous. Why their new CD didn't keep any of the things that made this album great is beyond me. They went from techno broadway to acoustic indie or something like that. I mean don't get me wrong I like some of the new songs but I prefer these better.

      • ohh, thats why they're big

      • i had never heard the whole album before until a couple of weeks ago. id only heard the big songs like 'theres a reasons these tables...' and 'i write sins not tragedies'. i got their second cd and loved it! i pretty much just assumed that the second was better than the first, just because i figured if i havent heard the all of the first album, then it probly isnt that good. but WOW was i wrong. Fever is AWESOME!!! the songs work with each other, and the ways the intermission introduces the rest of the album with piano, that was just amazing. apperantly im a top listener of this album now! i love it! thank you PATD

      • A Must have album

      • This is one of my most cherished albums ever. I'd never heard of them and bought the CD on a whim while shopping at Hot Topic when they first came out. The second the CD was over the first time I played it, I replayed it again. The CD got scratched and I bought another one rather than download it. This is just one of those CDs that I think everyone should have if you like rock and dance music...its a great mix.
