Mentallo & the Fixer's membership was reduced by half with the departure of Dwayne Dassing prior to the recording of Algorythum, which finds brother Gary employing live drums instead of pre-programmed rhythms for the first time in his career. The change in feel is subtle but noticeable; although the group's overall sound hasn't changed much without Dwayne, since Gary composed most of their best-known songs, there is a slightly more adventurous quality to the record, even if there are no radical rethinkings. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
