Up till then, the music was watered down, pop rock without any heart. The eighties, on the whole, was a bad decade for rock. With the exception of Guns N' Roses, there was not a whole lot on the national music scene worth listening to.
Then a friend turned me on to Jane's.
I was hooked.
This was a no nonsense, in your face, middle finger to the establishment of mainstream radio. The more I listened to Nothing's Shocking, the more amazing it got. After wearing out my cassette tape, (yep before I was buying CD's), I purchased their first release under the self titled name Jane's Addiction. Pretty darn good for a live recording. I also thought it was really ballsy to have their first release a live record.
If you are debating about whether to spend any money on this album, don't. Just do it, you wont regret it.
