Stride pianist James Dapogny, who had previously recorded a tribute to Jelly Roll Morton, moves his band's style up ten years for this exciting tribute to the small groups of the swing era. Most of the 14 selections are obscure but enjoyable and the arranged ensembles allow plenty of room for hot solos. The four-horn octet is full of talent with trumpeter Jon-Erik Kellso a standout.
