American Idol seventh season runner-up David Archuleta was the same age as Jordin Sparks, the season six winner, but he always seemed much, much older -- a creature from a different era, a time where Up with People peacefully merged with the sound and sensibility of the pre-Nirvana '90s. Modernity seemed foreign to Archuleta, which wouldn't prevent his success in American Idol, a show that lives in a permanent oldies fantasia where it's still rebellious to sing the Allman Brothers some 35 years after their breakthrough. While rebellion is anathema to Archuleta, there's no doubt that the kid is sweet, something that shone through on the show, and he manages to sidestep saccharine pitfalls through much of his eponymous debut -- delivered six months after AmIdol season seven drew to a close. The producers keep him away from anything rhythmic through most of David Archuleta, with only the overly busy rhythm tracks distinguishing this as a 2008 release. Archuleta does sing well -- maybe not with a sense of storytelling, but as a highly coached performer who can hit the marks with accuracy. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

- This album is a great start for David Archuleta. I like people to check his album cause it sounds good. I recommend to not fans of David but anybody. :)

- His songs are great, he has a great voice and just a great all around artist. He hit it off with his single crush and topped it off with this album. All the songs on this album i highly recommend but i especially like crush, a little too not over you and desperate. Hope everyone enjoys this amazing album

- This album is soo worth it that im going through the songs 2nd time in a row... Very good vocals I just love it 10/10 from me just as good as Blake Lewis - Audio Day Dream which has been my personal favorite album this one is also on the list. The song desperate just gets me.. I love this album.

- David! His first album is very great~ it shows what an amazing artist he is vocally, spiritually, romantically, etc. My personal favorite that he did on his album is "Your Eyes Don't Lie." It just has this nice feel to it... keep on performing and creating some good music David!! one of your fans =]
