album review

Timed to perfection, Daft Punk's second live album landed exactly ten years after the first, and provides a fitting complement to Alive 1997, easily the best live non-DJ electronica record ever released. While the original featured only a handful of tracks (but found them transformed and tweaked ad infinitum), Alive 2007 is packed with productions, most of them short and many of them getting a big crowd response (all recorded at one show in Paris in June of 2007). As on their first two classic full-lengths, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo display excellent crowd control, pacing the record well, spacing the hits, and building the mood like the good crowd-pleasers they are. (The visuals included in the regular and deluxe editions reveal quite the stage show as well.) It has the feel of a greatest-hits-live concert, but energized by Daft Punk's talents at weaving songs in and out of each other. Even songs from the comparatively desultory Human After All sound rejuvenated in context, with "Robot Rock" getting the show off to a rousing start. It may not be better or stronger than the original Alive 1997, but it's definitely harder and faster. [The deluxe edition of Alive 2007 included an enhanced CD with one ten-minute track that represented the encore plus a bonus video for "Harder Better Faster Stronger."] ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

      • Self Mashing

      • Nobody creates a mashup of two (or more) songs by the same artist than the artist themself. Daft Punk has proved this once again.

      • Electronic Perfection

      • This album is the epitome of perfection. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Hohem-Christo are masters of their art and couldn't have built this mind-blowing, breath-taking album any better. If that was possible, we would all be dead. Anyway, to get to my point, the song flow in this album rivals any other greatest hits or live album I've ever heard. It's solid all the way through and I couldn't have asked for a more awesome disc. Track 10 is my personal favorite.

      • Oh my God (In a good way)

      • Daft Punk`s latest live album,Alive 2007 is almost to good for words.Daft Punk takes amazing classics from nearly every album, and just makes this amazing collection of songs. When they were recording the album ,they balanced the audience/song ratio perfectly. Each song has a catchy beat for many to enjoy Daft Punk fan or not.I guarantee techno lovers everywhere will think the same.

      • Nearly Perfect

      • This album, which combines and mixes some of Daft Punk's top songs is quite possibly perfect. The album starts out hard, gets you pumped, and moves into many familiar tunes. From there we hit the slowest moment of the album right before the club pounding dance hit, One More Time. After that you are simply left wondering why you aren't right in front of the pyramid and viewing Daft Punk themselves in all their robotic glory. I would highly recommend this album for any electronica junky.

      • Confusion.

      • Great album. Amazing remixes with their most popular songs..

the only thing that im confused about,

is why there are two, and why only one album says live.

other than both of them.
the only difference ive heard between the two is that the alive 2007 (live) comes with a dvd..

but other than that they both are amazing.

      • One of, if not the best live album in the electronica world.
I am kicking myself for not realizing they were touring locally not too long ago
