Long ago, in the days before the Seven Words You Can't Say On Television, there was
Burns & Carlin -- the Carlin half of the team was
George Carlin, and the Burns half was
Jack Burns, who has since drifted into obscurity. This LP captured part of their act, including a tribute to
Lenny Bruce and
Mort Sahl. A lot of hard work that doesn't go anywhere in particular (
Lenny Bruce had mined most of the territory much earlier), but it does show the roots of Carlin's later work. ~ Steven McDonald, All Music Guide
