great intro to Blue October

- This album starts with Ugly Side, which is a great song to get introduced to BO with. It's got lovely melodies carrying the message of self-doubt and wanting to appear perfect for the people we love/want to be loved by. This message is carried through several other songs (Clumsy Card House, Calling You, Chameleon Boy, etc). Razorblade tells of a man struggling with abuse in his past, the struggle of power within and without. Somebody deals with power struggles and trying to live up to someone else's ideal, trying to remind us all that the only person we should be worried about impressing should be ourselves. Sexual Power Trip is simply and amazing song, bringing to mind the issues of how sex is a weapon and a gift... it's all in how you use it. Inner Glow is an anthem and a balm, saying it's okay to cry, it's okay to fail, just brush yourself of and make your own rules, write your own song. Come In Closer is quite possibly my favorite song, ever. I can't define the absolute stillness it conjures in me. Just thinking about storms rolling across the plains, clowns (and actors) putting on makeup and painting on smiles while they're slowly dying inside... brilliant.
Overall: Justin's beautiful voice, backed by this wonderful band will guide you through every darkened corner of your mind and help you come out the other side whole and cleansed. - Be the first person to rate this review!

- What a great CD. The third track, Razorblade tears at the soul with it's rage filled expresions of a pedophilia victim's struggle to understand and cope with the past. Ugly Side, Calling You, Inner Glow and Somebody are my other favorites.
