- This is the debut album that would immediately launch Blind Guardian into greatness. It is practically a definitive speed metal album, a must have for those who like their metal hard and heavy. Tracks such as Majesty and Wizard's Crown are the hallmarks of this album, which is notable as Hansi Kursch is also the band's bassist on this album and the young artist has yet to develop his signature vocal style. Majesty in particular is still in huge demand at live performances. It's hard to believe how young these men were when the songs on this album were written and its amazing to see how much they've grown as a band since.
I have to mention how cool the instrumental track, By the Gates of Moria, is. That's pretty much it; Andre and Marcus are awesome guitarists, what more do you need to hear?
Of the first three albums, I'd have to say Battalions of Fear is the strongest overall, with Follow the Blind as the weakest. This could have been a disturbing trend, but it was only a minor glitch. And from my perspective, the worst album by the best band is better than the best album by the worst band. You hear that Dragonforce? - Be the first person to rate this review!
