In non-Deluxe Edition form, BeyoncT's third solo studio album is as concise as 2006's B'day, but it is divided into two discs as a way to emphasize the singer's distinct personalities. It's a gimmick, of course -- a flimsy one. Revealed through interviews in 2005, Sasha was said to be BeyoncT's "stage persona," an embodiment of the outgoing, aggressive, on-stage BeyoncT that doesn't necessarily represent the real BeyoncT. Sasha now has a last name (possibly picked up from Tyra Banks, who maybe took a cue from Klymaxx), and is granted half an album (the second disc) to express herself. These five songs, when compared to the majority of B'day, are actually less fun, less impulsive, and yes, less fierce. "Diva," a variation on Lil Wayne's "A Milli," is the only track that could go toe to toe with the likes of B'day's "Freakum Dress" or "Ring the Alarm," at least in terms of audacity. At the other end is "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," a dire "Get Me Bodied" retread. Otherwise, the Sasha Fierce half is full of decent, if easily forgettable, upbeat pop. If placed within the context of an album without a packaging ploy, there'd be little evidence that BeyoncT is making a radical progression or being any more bold than before. It would, if anything, be notable as the least R&B-oriented batch of songs she has made -- that is, if it wasn't for the I Am half, essentially a small set of adult contemporary ballads. Acoustic guitars, pianos, strings, contemplative soul searching, and grand sweeping gestures fill it out, with more roots in '70s soft rock than soul. BeyoncT feels each line to the fullest extent, which almost rescues the set's staidness. "If I Were a Boy," while sounding like the watery backdrop for a singing competition finale, turns out to be the album's standout, both for its lyrics and BeyoncT's tormented performance. It could have been the song that broke an unfairly neglected adult-R&B singer like Heather Headley into the mainstream, and don't be surprised if a country artist nabs a CMA Award by covering it. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

- I dont care what anyone says, this album has pulled me thru some of the hardest moments of my love life!!!! They have become some of my sweetest memories! Thank you Beyonce... thank God for you!!

- I thought this whole alter ego Sasha Fierce thing wouldn't work at first. This is the kind of stuff that makes or breaks singers. It worked great for Beyonce though. It seems like she gets better and better with new album released.

- I'm not an extreme fan of hers at all. and when i first heard this album i was extremely disappointed, mostly after i heard "radio" i hate that song... but after time passed and i listened to this album again, i began to love it.
My favorite songs : Halo, Smash into you, Hello, ego, video phone.. jeez the whole album basicall. i have the delux version tho. every song but "radio" has me haha - 1 out of 1 people

I Like...Sasha Fierce

- This isn't the album you would expect from Beyoncé and honestly...I love it. I've always been a Beyoncé fan but never a huge one. I like her, I admired her for how hard she's always worked, and overall she's a good artist. However, I am certainly impressed with the slightly toned down feeling of this album and honestly thing it is her best. Her last were undoubtedly great, but this blows them away. I love the oldies feel of Sweet Dreams, the fun poppy feel of Radio, and the classic feel of Ave Maria. I'm very proud of her. People need to give her a break and understand that you have to expand yourself.

- It seems that every time an artist does something outside of the box, their fans turn on them. I don't get that! If artists don't switch up their styles occassionally, they can't grow as an artist and find out what other styles work for them. This album is one of her BEST! She did some some dirty South (Diva, Video Phone), some 80s disco sounds (Sweet Dreams), some power ballads (Hello, Broken Hearted Girl, If I were a Boy), some pop (Single Ladies, Halo), I mean she totally switched it up and it works for her. She isn't in her 40s; she was way too young to just be doing standard R & B. Any true music lover...I mean somone who can appreciate ALL GENRES of music...will LOVE this album! I give it two thumbs up!
