album review

Live in the LBC and Diamonds in the Rough is a two-disc CD/DVD combo released during Avenged Sevenfold's 2008 tour. Peppered with unreleased rarities and covers (including a muscular version of Pantera's "Walk"), the audio disc mostly caters to the band's established audience. The accompanying DVD proves to be the highlight of this release as it captures the group in all its debauched glory, combining Mötley Crüe-styled theatrics with alt-metal muscle. Scantily clad women gyrate on-stage while the bandmates churn through a greatest-hits set list, with "Critical Acclaim," "Afterlife," "Seize the Day," and "Scream" all making appearances. The band's dual guitar solos are executed with precision, and frontman M. Shadows is in fine voice here (ironically, Avenged Sevenfold ultimately canceled a slew of shows several months later due to strain on Shadows' throat). Flashy, confident, and decidedly R-rated, the DVD makes this package a worthy purchase for most Avenged Sevenfold fanatics. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide

      • One of the best DVDs i ever bought.
Watch it every week. along with all excess.
        Why is it R-Rated though?
        Is it because of Scream?

      • Another Amazing Album

      • Avenged Sevenfold has released yet another amazing album,
this time it comes with a DVD of their live show in Long Beach, CA. This album
follows the bands unique sounds as they put up eleven tracks, and the new songs
are a different sound, which goes with the bands unique way of covering
different sounds of rock as herd from their previous albums.

Listeners will get Crossroads, Walk, Almost Easy (CLA Mix), and Afterlife
(Alternate Version) which are a different sound than found on the album versions.
The new songs include Demons, Girl I Know, Flash of the Blade, Until The End, Tension,
and The Fight. These songs are an obvious difference from their usual, but
        still recognizable tone.

All in all, the experience the listener gets is the usual sounds of Avenged Sevenfold,
with great vocals, guitar, and drum beats. I highly recommend this to anyone
wanting to hear a different sound in Rock/Alternative as well as all of us
        Avenged Sevenfold fans.
