album review

The second full-length by North Carolina screamo act Alesana finds the sextet inching ever closer to the mall punk mainstream. Where the pretentiously titled debut, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, was focused primarily on lead singer Dennis Lee's forced screams and growls, the more commercially minded Where Myth Fades to Legend makes far greater use of the band's clean vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Shawn Milke, whose appealingly whiny voice is more suited to the hooks-and-riffs songwriting that predominates here. Simply on that basis, the album is an improvement over their debut, and Where Myth Fades to Legend is conceivably of interest to some subset of the Vans Warped Tour crowd. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

      • Yes, the album makes sence many so-called fans say that it doesn't make any sence. It's a really good album for fans of heartbreaks and just plain old awesome.

      • Best Yet

      • Alesana once again earns my ears. In their second album Alesana comes back with more intense vocals and the sequel to their last album. The lyrics are continued like a story, and are very deep and strong, in my opinion. Everything was improved since the last album: Vocals, Guitar, Rhythm, Bass, Drums, and Screams.

      • Alesana For The Win!

      • Alesana pulls another great album, but this time, EVEN BETTER. Where Myth Fades To Legend was put together in an order that could be played throughout. The endings and the beginnings of each song play into each other..Not only that, Shawn Milke's vox is heard more and more in each song. Dennis Lee's screams still come hard and brutal in each song. This Is Usually The Part Where People Scream, Seduction, Red and Dying Evening,All Night Dance Parties In The Underground Palace, and Obsession Is Such An Ugly Word are great songs to start off with..I recommend this CD!

      • Alesana succeeds... again!

      • Alesana follows up to "On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax" with an excellent sequel "Where Myth Fades to Legend". Shawn Milke seems to have worked on his voice and Dennis Lee's vocals are as hard as ever. The songs are not lacking, if you loved OFWOVAW you will love WMFTL. Red and Dying Evening, The Uninvited Thirteenth, Seduction, Obsession is Such an Ugly Word... no matter what song you listen to, it leaves you satisfied and wanting more. Alesana brings crashing drums, explosive guitars, and hard and melodic vocals to create the excellence that is WMFTL. Very nice album, I strongly recommend it.

      • Alesana at their best

      • Alesana has once again captivated their fans with WMFTL and I don't think they have any plans on slowing down. "As You Wish" is definitely one of their best songs (Just like "The Third Temptation Of Paris"). These 13 songs will be playing non-stop on my zune.
