2 Skinnee J's major-label debut,
Super Mercado, finds the underground hip-hop group losing none of their power as they make the leap to the big leagues. The production is a little cleaner, but the beats and rhymes still hit hard. Occasionally, the group's kitschy pop culture references grate, but on the whole, the album is an impressive collection of hardcore rap that finds the middle ground between
Public Enemy and
Cypress Hill. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
