album review

Knoxville, TN, alt-metal act 10 Years made their major-label debut with 2005's The Autumn Effect, an effort much beholden to the likes of Tool and Staind, and the album scored a big radio hit with the single "Wasteland." Reportedly recorded in a fractious intra-band environment (hence the title), Division sounds like the work of a band that carefully and thoroughly deconstructed its previous hit and attempted to replicate it several more times for the follow-up. Division is a smooth, radio-friendly record featuring new producer Rick Parashar's glossy layers of instruments and vocals. Occasional moments also suggest that the bandmembers now consider themselves "artists": the coda of "Picture Perfect (In Your Eyes)" is nearly as long as the body of the song itself, and features a spoken word poem read by one of the album's female backing vocalists. Division may well have the intended effect of prolonging the band's chart life, at least temporarily. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

      • The best band ever

      • 10 Years is my favorite rock band. I have seen them twice and kick it with the band members. They are so sweet and their music is profound/amazing. This albulm is more commercial than the 1st but it's still awesome. I do agree the Autum Effect is better only because I belive they wanted to get in touch with a broader audience, which essentially has this albulm sounding a little mainstream over the Autum Effect. But by no means is this music anything thing you hear on the radio. Drug Of Choice is a lyrically the shit. The whole albulm from beging to end will have you in awwwww.

      • Simply Fantastic

      • Division is as good, if not better than Autumn Effect.
If you have this CD and love it but don't have the bonus tracks. You must, must get them. 2 are on the best buy release and the other is an Itunes bonus track. Buy, borrow, rip or steal them (is that dedundant). Just get them. You won't be disapointed.

      • beautifully built album

      • i was a huge fan of the autumn effect..
and this album seems to be drawing me in just as much as that one did. some of these songs are really well constructed and definitely sticks to the '10 Years' style.
if you like the song 'Beautiful', i recommend checking out the whole album, you'll probably like it.

      • A good album, but not great.

      • This is a pretty good album with some unique songs, but for some reason, I'm just not enjoying it as much as The Autumn Effect.

It's a good album, so check it out, but don't expect it to blow you away.

      • This album is amazing!!!

      • I honestly believe that the album The Autumn Effect is better. I believe this because it seems that 10 Years put more effort and thinking into the album. Now the album Division as well is an amazing album, because there seemed to be a change in how there music was played. All in all there both outstanding albums and I highly recommend you purchase them. If you like A Perfect Circle, Tool, Taproot, Deftones, and etc. than you'll most certainly love this band. Well I hope you found this useful, and enjoy!!!
